Travelin' through the Favelas

Opa tudo!  Bom dia!!   Okay, so we are here on a little bit of a different schedule because today is our Zone P-Day!  So we are taking our P day on the same day as the rest of the mission, therefore Wednesday.   In terms of work, I have spent a few of the last few days out of my area doing a lot of exchanges.  We have 6 zones, and we as assistents will do an exchange with at least all of the zone leaders every transfer.  So that's a lot of exchanges.  The last three that I have done have been in Meier (my zone), Alcantara, and Vila São Luiz.  Two of which I got to leave the area.   Leaving my own area is such an interesting experience, because it means that I get to see a whole new view of the mission. It also makes me very grateful because the part of Rio that I live in is VERY beautiful compared to Alcantara.  *shudder* Alcantara.  But it was really good because me and my companion for the day, Elder Siqueria, had t...

Children of Heavenly Parents

Alrighty, week 2 here in Jardim Botânico.  It has been taking a lot of getting used to, just with the big change from the suburbs to the big city!  But I love getting to look at Copacabana Beach and Pão de Açúcar every single day!   So just some quick updates, Elder MacDonald was tested negative and went back home on Monday, and we were all out of quarantine.   Monday was also my birthday!  I realized that the birthday on the mission is just...another work day haha.  But it was good!  We worked in a new area close to our chapel that reminds me a lot of Hawaii!  It´s so gosh dang pretty here!   I did get a little birthday celebration when President and Sister De Oliveira brought in brownies and hot chocolate before our district council.  Speaking of Hot Chocolate, it has gotten a lot colder here! Like, everyone is in sweaters and wearing blankets all around the house.  All of you who are reading this in the Unite...

The Month where Everything Changed

Hey all!   I know, there may be some people who are wondering if I have deleted you off of my blog list based on the fact that I haven't sent an email here in a long time.  But!  That is only because the last month has been completely busy and I´ve been swamped by everything that has been happening.  It's sad because there is probably going to be a lot of smaller details that will be lost in this email, but if you have questions or want to know more, just send me a follow-up email! Okay, so first thing is first!  We have finished the Temple Open House here in Rio de Janerio!  Such a bittersweet moment, because it means we have lost this amazing tool of bringing people off the street into the doors of the temple, but at the same time, I appreciate the time to actually work in my area and get a full night's sleep.  The final week we were working at the temple practically every single day.  It seems like just when we finished our planning, our s...
