Children of Heavenly Parents
Alrighty, week 2 here in Jardim Botânico. It has been taking a lot of getting used to, just with the big change from the suburbs to the big city! But I love getting to look at Copacabana Beach and Pão de Açúcar every single day!
So just some quick updates, Elder MacDonald was tested negative and went back home on Monday, and we were all out of quarantine. Monday was also my birthday! I realized that the birthday on the mission is just...another work day haha. But it was good! We worked in a new area close to our chapel that reminds me a lot of Hawaii! It´s so gosh dang pretty here!
I did get a little birthday celebration when President and Sister De Oliveira brought in brownies and hot chocolate before our district council. Speaking of Hot Chocolate, it has gotten a lot colder here! Like, everyone is in sweaters and wearing blankets all around the house. All of you who are reading this in the United States I´m sure are having a very different experience!
I know this week hasn´t been a whole ton, we just have been teaching a lot. One of the things we are trying to apply in our area is just teaching, instead of marking for another time to come back. It means that we have taught lesson 1, about the Restoration of Jesus Christ, probably about 15 times this week, but I have loved it. There is something about just teaching people that brings the spirit very strongly!
I wanted to share my words very quickly about the devotional that our own Prophet President. Nelson talked about. He and his wife gave a devotional to young adults this last week, and I was able to study it in the morning. It really impacted me the three things he says we should always remember. In life we have many titles, but we have three that we always need to remember and keep in the forefront. And the first one, is that we are CHILDREN of our HEAVENLY FATHER.
Remember that this week. Take a moment to think about what it means to be a child of Heavenly Father, and how that attitude should show out in all of our interactions with people, and also how we treat ourselves! We are heavenly children, with a divine potential. Don´t forget who you are, and how valued you are in all the world. I love all of you. If you don´t know who you are, or don´t fully understand, ask your Heavenly Father. He will help you understand. He is the one who loves you the most.
Thank you for all your words! I hope you all have an amazing week!
