Blessings of the BoM
Wow! What a week this has been. It began being super crazy and slowly began to get a little less hectic, but no less hardworking! So not a lot of pictures this week unfortunately.
This week began with Tuesday, a day of blessings and miracles!
We had a lot of lessons planned, so much that we barely had time to get an hour of Personal Scripture Study in. We got to meet Dominic, our recent convert and talk about the Priesthood! It's exciting that he'll be able to receive it within the next couple weeks! He's been doing well and has been finding a good place. We love Dominic!
And then...the blessing walked in. His name is Mauro. He's a Brazilian who is here in the USA and was looking for a job on Facebook. As he was flipping through job applications, he found our missionary ads and clicked on it, thinking it was a job application. Well, sure enough the sisters in our English ward answered, and he found out it was a church. Well, they taught him once on the phone, because he was moving to Orlando, then brought us in for the 2 days he was in Orlando. He is AWESOME!!! He has such a big energy and he's been studying the Bible since 2019, and I mean study a lot. And He's an ACTOR! So he knows all about the theatre life so we got to connect about that.
We taught him the Restoration and all about Joseph Smith and especially The Book of Mormon. He was captivated the whole time and was so excited to read and see how the Book of Mormon lined up with the Bible. He told us he want to serve and be baptized???!!! What?! So we put him on a soft baptismal invitation. He took two copies of the Book of Mormon, and had us sign and date the front cover and then left.
Then Wednesday, he comes in with PowerPoint. He showed us how he studies the Bible, he makes PowerPoints with Genology, connections, cross references, historical analyzations, all this. So he shows us some of them, and then he pauses and says, "But, then I started reading the Book of Mormon..." And then he pulls out a new PowerPoint that ties the Book of Mormon into the Bible and shows pictures of Joseph's first vision and he was so giddy with it!! So, we officially invited him to be baptized on November 28th...and he'll be out of town in Utah until the 22nd, so we are sending him plenty of resources and teaching through the phone to prepare him!
A picture he took after our first lesson...
Between this week, we've taught A LOT!!! Over 12 lessons the first 2 days of the week. Like we were asked by our Zone Leaders, we have been working hard on getting our members in lessons. As we've done this, we have seen great miracles and blessings! Here's a picture of some very awesome members of the Hunters Creek Ward. They always invite us over for dinners and are very helpful in anything we need with our friends.
This week I was able to play piano for yet another baptism! I'm very blessed to be able to help these people participate in this first covenant with God! And I get a literal and figurative front row seat!
This week, we had interviews with President Ashcraft, and I loved the opportunity to speak one on one with him for even just 15 minutes. He gave very wise counsel about sharing and involving the Book of Mormon in all lessons and in normal day conversation. It fits in well because this week we have done a lot of teaching and sharing of the Book of Mormon. Along with that, I've been reading it personally. I just read it and learn so much. We were teaching someone a couple weeks ago, and she read a passage and said "Wait, so like could this apply to my life?" And we enthusiastically replied, "YES!!!"
I know that as I read the Book of Mormon, I can become closer to God. I know it is a sacred book and a gift from God. If you don't know what the Book of Mormon is, I'd love to explain a little more. If you do, I would invite you to read for 15 minutes a day. I know it is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Every verse, every page, is filled with Christ, and his love and his gift for all people. It is His book and his words to all the people! It's true!! I testify that!!
I know maybe not a whole ton I wrote, but there was a lot a lot of stuff going on. Plenty of blessings and seeds planted. Most of all, helping others to come unto Christ! Thank you all for your love and support! Feel free to reach out for any questions you may have!!
