Gratitude and Miracle Baptism
Olá!!! Como tá ás coisas??
Okay, so this has been a very unique and great week here in the mission field! There are basically 2 big things to talk about that happened in this last week. Thanksgiving and the baptism of Mauro!!
I want to talk about Mauro first though! He is such a miracle. Such a miracle and a blessing. I think I said it about 12 times yesterday over the course of the day. So, he's been prepping this whole time since we first met him. Actually, he's been being prepared for every single day until now. This day. And he knows it!
So, this last week we got to meet with him in person the first time since the beginning of November 3rd. He's been in Utah but we got to give him a tour of the Chapel and help him be prepared for Sunday!
He came in on Sunday and he wanted to stay ALL DAY. So he was in the church building from 9 AM-7 PM and he just went to services and then studied and prayed. It was so cool. We went to the first two meetings and he was so happy!! He basically took over a room and starting his Bible and Book of Mormon study.
We had some other appointments to go to, but we came back and we got to just have 2 hours with him. Just us in the church and him. We talked and we didn't have to worry about teaching, just be with him and prepare.
Mauro has actually been taught by 5 missionaries, so here is 4 of us pictured. Elder Grier is obviously home, but us and Sisters Storms and Jordan were all so supportive.
The baptismal service was beautiful and was a mix of Português and English. I got to baptize him!!!!!! I'm so grateful and so lucky. He gave me a giant wet hug afterwards, and he got up at the very end to do his ending testimony. He talked about love of God, he talked about trials and humility. And he talked about continuing day by day, learning and growing in God. It was exactly what I needed to hear. He's a miracle. He walked right in and he's been ready. He's been wanting this and he found it. He found the thing he was looking for. He's a miracle, prepared for God. The spirit was so present, it was so present and so sweet. I was so so so very grateful for him.
Speaking of gratitude Thanksgiving!! Anyone who reads this email, I am grateful for. You are all supporting me and reading my words. To you I give a giant thank you. We were able to have one meal with our district and one with a member of our ward who brought EVERYONE along. It was a giant samoan feast complete with a legitimate roasted pig!!
I'm prepping the next couple days to to Brazil on Thursday!!! I'm so excited and so sad to leave all at the same time. It's going to be a big wave of emotions on that day.
There has been a very strong spirit this weekend as we prepared for Mauros baptism. I'm so grateful for him.
This is God's work and I'm grateful to be his servant.
I love hearing from all of you, and what you are grateful for!! I appreciate all your messages and your prayers!
