Here we are in São Gonçalo

Oi tudo mundo!  Okay, yes, it's been two weeks, and yes this is getting sent out on a Wednesday.  There's been some changes here in my mission, including P day being on Wednesdays instead of Mondays.  It's an adjustment for sure, and last week was 8 days without a P day, so today will be a well needed day of rest.

But!  Other exciting changes, I got transferred!  I'm here in a new area, with a new comp, and things have been going well.  But let me start off with last week.

So last week was actually a really difficult week for me.  We weren't able to really find the work or the success that we had in the past.  There was a lot of dropped lessons, etc.  I just wasn't in the best headspace, which made it a harder week.  But, I can testify now that God answers prayers.  I was praying for this next week to be different.  To be able to find more happiness in the work, to have the energy to work harder, etc.  Oh boy did he answer.    He did this first by one of the speakers at Sacrament Meeting in Niteroi.  She talked about her mission, and the many many difficulties and unexpected turns that happened.  But every time they happened, all she said was, "Vamos la" which means, "Alright, let's go." And off she went!  I loved the idea, and it really helped me when about 3 hours later, I got a call that I would be going to Sao Goncalo....the very next morning.

So!  I'm here now in Sao Goncalo.  It was an emergency transfer, because an actual transfer doesn't happen until next week, but for the meantime, I'm here.  I don't know how long, or why exactly but....Vamos la!

Here's a picture of me and my new comp, Elder Hicken!  We are both americans, (He's from Oregon) and we both actuallly came into Brazil the same day, exactly 2 months ago!  So we have about the same level of language learning.  And as well, he's about a transfer younger than me on the mission.  So we've been surviving, 2 younger Americans here in Brazil!

This week we have worked really really hard.  We've always spent a lot of different times throughout the day working on the streets!  It's hard to write down all the unique experiences that have happened, but I'll boil it down to points.

-A Woman prayed for US
-A group at a bar offered us water, and we ended up teaching for an hour and giving out a book of mormon.
-My confidence rose tenfold, and the Holy Ghost has been guiding every single contact we do!

The past couple weeks have been extremely hot here in Brazil, but the last 4 days we have been absolutely blessed with Rain!  It's been so much cooler and nice to be able to walk in the overcast weather....but it has meant we have gotten caught in the rain twice walking about 30 minutes to our chapel.  It's been an interesting adventure for sure!
A fun new thing bout this area is the English Class!  We get to teach an English class that's open to anybody!  Well, the missionary who was last in Sao Goncalo really taught it, so they kind of just said I was doing it, but I loved it!  It was so fun to be in a more traditional teaching atmosphere again.

All I can say this week is that God really does answer prayers. That's my testimony to share this week.  Because he heard my prayer and he helped me.  And here, as I've prayed for comfort, for confidence, for the gift of tongues, he has come through, and always given it to me.  When we work hard, he will help us.  Because of our faith.  Because we are hitting the streets every day as missionaries.

I can promise you all, that when you do acts of faith, praying to your father in heaven, and reading your scriptures, trusting in your Savior Jesus Christ, he WILL listen.  And he WILL help you.  Maybe not the timing or the idea you think, but he will.  Cause he loves you.

This area has been a blessed one.  I'm so excited for the many adventures that will come for however long I'm here.  It's been a blessed week.  I love my Father in Heaven.  I know he loves all you.  He's always on your side.  I'm grateful for your prayers and support for the last 2 months here in Brazil.  I love you all!
