Gratitude and Miracle Baptism

Image
Olá!!! Como tá ás coisas??  Okay, so this has been a very unique and great week here in the mission field!  There are basically 2 big things to talk about that happened in this last week. Thanksgiving and the baptism of Mauro!!   I want to talk about Mauro first though!  He is such a miracle. Such a miracle and a blessing. I think I said it about 12 times yesterday over the course of the day. So, he's been prepping this whole time since we first met him. Actually, he's been being prepared for every single day until now. This day. And he knows it!   So, this last week we got to meet with him in person the first time since the beginning of November 3rd. He's been in Utah but we got to give him a tour of the Chapel and help him be prepared for Sunday!  He came in on Sunday and he wanted to stay ALL DAY. So he was in the church building from 9 AM-7 PM and he just went to services and then studied and prayed. It was so cool. We ...

New Transfer and Exciting News!!!

Image
Olá meu amigos e minha família também!!   Here we are, and we survived the first week of the transfer!  It's just been me and Elder Bell here at the house, and it has been a little bit of an adjustment to go from 3 in a house and companionship to only 2!  I'm now the driver and so it's become an ajudstment because Florida drivers are absolutely crazy!  Those of my friends who live in Utah may say that Utah drivers are crazy, no no, you haven't haven't Florida. I can't tell if it's the random body of water, or the tourists or what, but just, very scary some times.  I'm writing this on a Tuesday because our P day is actually today!  On Thursday's we help out with Bishop's Storehouse, which provides food for those less fortunate and less able to purchase it. So we always help, but with a large influx with Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving being on a Thursday means that we did it yesterday!  It felt SO weird to be waking up after Sunday and ...

Training Termination

Image
Hello all!!!  As you can read above, as of tomorrow, I am officially done with my training as a missionary!  I mean, I've still got so so much to learn and continue to grow in this work, but I am done with my 12 weeks of training. It's exciting!  And because of that, it means that now I can move onto the next step of the process...which is being the next District Leader here in Buena Ventura District!  I'm so excited to take this position and grow in a lot of new ways. And me and Elder Bell are going to be staying together for next transfer, so we are really really excited about that. We are going to start a lot of things next transfer to work on our Portugeuse and missionary work, so it will be pushing me a lot I'm sure.  One of the fun things we've got to do with this being Elder Griers last week of the mission is hitting certain spots he wasn't able to before. This is the famous Twistee Treat with some AMAZING Pumpkin Seasonal Ice Cream.  Thi...

Blessings of the BoM

Image
Wow!  What a week this has been. It began being super crazy and slowly began to get a little less hectic, but no less hardworking!  So not a lot of pictures this week unfortunately.  This week began with Tuesday, a day of blessings and miracles!   We had a lot of lessons planned, so much that we barely had time to get an hour of Personal Scripture Study in. We got to meet Dominic, our recent convert and talk about the Priesthood!  It's exciting that he'll be able to receive it within the next couple weeks!  He's been doing well and has been finding a good place. We love Dominic!   And then...the blessing walked in. His name is Mauro. He's a Brazilian who is here in the USA and was looking for a job on Facebook. As he was flipping through job applications, he found our missionary ads and clicked on it, thinking it was a job application. Well, sure enough the sisters in our English ward answered, and he found out it was a church. We...
